Paragraph Time Machine

I went back in time with a machine made by my friend Dr Cornell.
It was a strange looking object with two wheels on its sides and an umbrella on top of the roof.He told me to sit on the cokpit and press a button on a certain date that would lead me to wherever I chose . I picked the middle ages in 1232, in England. When I pressed the button I suddenly heard a loud noice and all the structure around me faded away.In a second I was in the middle of a forest with glommy flowers and at a distance I sighted a castle that was beeing attacked by knights in shyning armour, while in the distance I could see in the castles windows, beatiful ladys dressed in purple silk ,waving their hands to the incoming warriors.

THREE UNITS

Synonyms:

It´s important to use synonyms to make the reading more interesting and varied.
the accurecy of synonyms is always depending on context.
You may use synonyms to express a word in an academic context for example, or an informal context.
Example: The word "Pupil" can be used in a school ,but in Univesity the word student is used more often.Or the word "teacher" can be used in school but in an important Conference ,or University ,the word "Professor" is used more often.
Some examples of synonyms: Goal- Target
                                                 Controversy-Argument
                                                 Behaviour-Conduct
                                                 Interpretation-Explantion
                                                 Large- Big.

Cohesion:

Cohesion is linking phrases so as to make the text clearer and more readable.
The use of conjunctions is often used to unite sentences or you can use words like: "he,his, they,it and that" to refer back to something mentioned before.

Example: The President flew his helicopter to the Presidential Palace, for it was easy to pilot.
The word his refers to the President.  The word it refers to helicopter.

Other words can be used as cohesion  like possesive pronouns: her-hers-their-theirs
                            objective pronouns: her-him-them
                            demostrative pronouns: this-that-these-those
                            phrases like:  the former-the latter-the first-the second.

Comparisons:

Ther are two ways of comparing things when writing:
Example: John is taller than Mike.
She is more beatiful than her classmates.

1.Er is  added to one syllable adjectives: fast-faster and two syllable adjectives ending in y: pretty-pretier.
2. More is used with two syllable words:beatiful-more beatiful
There are, however, two syllable words that can be used in either form: simple-simpler-more simpler.

To make comparisons more exact you can use words like : Considerably,Slightly and Significantly for example:
It rained considerably stronger than expected.
The car is slightly more silent than the truck.
She is significantly smarter than her sisters.

EDGAR ALLEN POE, (Càtedra)

I.Area Of Study: Literature ,Poetry
A.Problem: Life and Work of Allen Poe
B.Research Question:How was the life and work of Allen Poe; and what was his contribution to Literature?
C.Objectives:1.Students or readers should become acquainted with the life and work of one of the most important poets and writers of american literature
2.Students should aknowledge the contribution that this poet made in   Literature .
                3. Students should be able to create poetical sentences with rhyme.

D.Structure: How the work of Allen Poe changed literature  by introducing new style in Fiction and in romantic Poetry.
As far as the XIX ,poetry suffered a change in the era called Romanticism and Allen Poe gave it a big boost when rhyme and romanticism combined to produce a jingle - like poetry. He also introduced the  horror tales and detective stories that touched the strange side of human nature.Although conservatives of those times criticized him for his dready settings, he is still considered a revolutionary in many aspects of literature.

                                                           Rationale

My main purpose for writing this paper is my interest in this period of time in literatute or I may say my interest in Romanticism. In the times that we live ,where all important values have been lost and where materialism and consumism have parted us away from the big issues of human nature like Love, emotional values, kindness, the admiration of pure  beauty ,benevolence ect. I though tha it`s important nowadays to recollect this lost values so as to pass them though the next generations. This values are the core of human sensitivity ,even though to some critics this kind of literature is considered to emotional or dready, today we need a comback to this kind of  past values. That`s the reason why I chose Edgar Allen Poe as I consider him (and he is)  the symbol of this movement   called Romanticism. His poetry and at some level in his mystery novels , love, beatiful women ,always have a part in a tragedy or an imposible love.His sing-song rhyme poems reflects human emotions of the highest level that impacts indiduals that are going through a similar situation; t`s like the author reaching  the deep fiber of an individual or reader, much more if he is in love.
In the first part of the paper there is an introduction that tells of the contributions and the importance of Allen Poe to Literature,as well as the time period that he came to be known and recognized. The main body consist of his life and work and the importance of some poems that are considered a symbol of his work and innovation and how we can use it as an example to create a rhyme-kind of poetry. And in the last part,or we may call it the conclusion, I write about the importance of this kind of literature for the kids nowadays and how it can connect them with sensitivity and creativity.

                                                      Introduction

During the XIX century there came to be a literary movement called Romanticism, which started in England at the end of the 18th century till around 1870.
The primary vehicle of this expression was poetry, although it touched other areas like philosophies, agendas and points of interests it was through literature that it was better expressed. In the United States Romanticism was delayed as it started roughly in 1830 up to the Civil War. It was during this period that many American writers arose , There was something in the air at that time that inspired many great man to express and show their creativity mostly in novelists like Mark Twain, and  in Poetry Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass 1855, marked a turning point in the history of Poetry, applying a cosmological vision and a rhyme that was new in that period.
In this context the Poet Edgar Allen Poe arose as one of the most purely Romantic poets and short story writers of his generation, he created fiction and his poetry explored the strange side of human nature. His “sin-song” rhythm and strange settings earned him criticism but his creativity put him in a pedestal among the most important American writers of all times, Ralph Waldo Emerson Called him “The Jingle Man”. No other figure has made such an impact as Poe in so many different areas ,by his work he excerted an awesome influence on fiction and poetry. His influence can be seen in some horror tales of the present times like “Stephen King’s” Novels. Poe is considered a master of pure prose transforming it in an art, writing the first perfect stories in the English language, giving it purpose, method and form. In 1973 Daniel Hoffman, a poet himself, published a study of Poe’s writings and in 1984 two volumes of Poe’s collected work were published in the “Library of America”. Allen Poe formulated a critical theory and provided examples for it’s practice in areas like poetry, fiction, and literary criticism. Poe made an invaluable contribution to American literature.
